The recipe...

Love is a very simple emotion and some might argue a complex chemical reaction; I guess that’s why they call it chemistry between two people…

But relationships are a recipe; like one of my mom’s famous dishes… The delicious and not so simple yellow dal…

Think about it for just one second… I am sure you have had this dish in a number of places but the one that makes you feel all warm inside is the dish your loved ones have made for you… There is something mysteriously enchanting about it when you add a dollop of love into it…

So what is the recipe for relationships?

Well, let me see if I can put my master chef hat on and dish something out…

1. We need the right ingredients – You need to meet the right person and by right I mean, right choice for you. You don’t need to have just any dal, you should want the specific one from the variety out there.

2. The right quantity – excess or less of any ingredient will leave a bad taste. There are many people out there that we meet and fall in love with, some just don’t matter and some we will learn to hate. So what sets them apart?

Have you ever wondered why we treat different people in different ways even if they do the same things for us. For example, imagine being gifted a bouquet by 5 different men who are wonderful people; will you accept all 5? I guess not…

Because there is no fixed measurement for the right quantity, the secret is that accepting someone’s gesture towards you gives you the opportunity to do more. But remember that this is a privilege that is attached to the opportunity so use only the best ingredients in the quantity that works for you.

Tip: The ingredients & Quantity will change with different situations.

3. The right amount of pressure- Pressure is important for the dal to cook, where too much of it will ruin your dish and very little of it will leave it uncooked.

Times that test you are here to strengthen your bond so be thankful that life gave you that opportunity to fight for each other.

It’s great to blow some steam off and fill the air with tantalising aromas of the dish being cooked. After all 80% of the taste is in the aroma…

4. Garnish it well- A great dish is nothing without some frills and is important for the overall appetite, just like surprises, dressing up for your partner, romance and a silent hug are important for the overall well-being of a relationship.

Don’t get me wrong, but these small things show in action what your partner means to you; sometimes just a call out of the ordinary is enough to let them know that you are thinking of them…

5. Eat till your hearts content- Maa ke haath ka dal is comfort food and should be had till your heart desires and not till your stomach is full.

Like I have said before your hunger is a need but your desire to have that liquid gold is a want…

Relationships are built on wants and not needs…

6. Add a dollop of love- need I say more? You all have tasted the difference in technique VS love.

So there you have it! My world famous recipe for relationships…
