Lessons from a great man...

Life is the biggest teacher but we always need someone to put the chaos into perspective every once in a while and for me that was my father…

He is in a better place today but I can’t thank him enough for the insights he gave me as a troubled teen, because of which he still beats in my heart keeping his celebration of a life alive through me…

So I would like to pass on that privilege he so selflessly gave me via his words, that have always comforted me, made me hopeful and made me a stronger human being, because you never known who else might be searching for inspiration and I hope they get the opportunity to experience this too… From the one and only, a man of towering wisdom and a motivation in himself, my father Nasir Baig…

Lesson in life:

1. May the rest of your life be the best of your life…

2. You are not the first or the last person to go though this so don’t feel victimised but feel blessed that you will come out stronger…

3. I am there with you to see you though your difficult times as a guide but you will have to walk that path on your own. When you fall, I will pick you up and know that I am still around; so keep walking…

4. It’s ok to be lost in life, it gives you perspective…

5. Don’t leave your job because it is difficult, or because your boss is bad, or because the money is not great; leave because you don’t love the work you doing and can’t give it a 100%…

6. You either give it a 100% or you don’t do it at all. There is no room for half hearted commitments for anything in life…

7. I am not perfect so don’t ape me, instead take what’s good and be proud that you live your own principals…

8. Life is beautiful because I have the opportunity to love people around me and receive ten folds in return. Good or bad times are irrelevant when I have this…

9. When you say I love you, do not expect anything less in return…

10. You were brought up with dignity by your parents, don’t let anyone treat you otherwise.

11. Be heard, be on time, always show up; be the person you would look up to.

12. There is nothing that a good drink, being surrounded by family, great food, song and dance can’t cure. It gives you happiness

13. Money is not everything in life. I wish I had a room full of it just so that I could share it with people who actually needed it…

14. You can cheat me of my money but that’s all you can take, I will always have my pride and my destiny…

15. You will have many opportunities to make money the wrong way but that won’t give you sound sleep. I am proud that I have been able to sleep without any problems all my life…

16. I have lived all my life on the road and lived out of a suitcase; so I understand the value of company, simple home food and a home…

17. Don’t be afraid to follow though what your heart desires, but be prepared because it’s not going to be easy; and know well that it’s worth the fight…

18. Don’t marry someone who makes you happy, marry them because you both are willing to drop your egos to fight for each other; every single day. Remember that marriage is not an event but a life long commitment…

19. I will always be there when you need me…

20. No one is indispensable so don’t think you cannot be replaced…

21. Just because I acknowledge your bad habits, does not mean I endorse them…

22. There is great power in love, friendship and prayer. Love without conditions, be a friend without expectations and pray without doubt…

23. You are a winner! Your parents gave birth to one so don’t spoil my name…

24. Take care of your mother and treat her well, she deserves nothing less for all her sacrifices and I won’t take anyone disrespecting her lightly…

25. The least you can do for someone is genuinely offer to help and consider yourself lucky if they accept. Remember it’s a privilege to get that opportunity…

26. You have a roof on your head, food on your plate, clothes on your back and an education; you are luckier than many but may not be as privileged as a few…

27. Take care of your health…

28. Everyone has problems and we are no one to judge the severity of it because we are not going through it. I would like for you to show empathy and not sympathy…

29. When you pray, thank God for all that he has given you; you may realise that there is nothing to ask for…

Well the lessons are endlessly but I enjoyed sharing the few that changed my life; for which I Love you dad for all the great things you have taught me; and most importantly for your great looks 😉

Well nothing wrong in ending this on a funny note.. I guess this was the most important lesson learnt, that no matter how difficult life gets; it never hurts to have a good laugh at its expense 😊
